Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and independence. It is the oldest celebration that serves as a reminder that slavery has ended.in history of the United States notes that in June, 19 1865 Union Army under the command of Major General Gordon Granger docked in Galveston , Texas . Mr. Gordon brings great news. First, the war was over and the second that all slaves has been emancipated The proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, during the American Civil War. There was some resistance to this proclamation until regiments General Granger is strong enough to influence and overcome resistance.
